The Problem
Finding a clinical preceptor is one of the hardest parts of nursing education. Students spend weeks cold-calling clinics, emailing providers, and asking classmates for leads. Schools struggle to place every student before deadlines. Qualified preceptors exist — they're just hard to find, and there's no central directory that connects them with the students and programs that need them.
What We Do
Preceptor.Network is a matching platform purpose-built for clinical placements. We connect nurse practitioner students, CRNA students, CNM students, and other advanced practice nursing students with licensed preceptors who are actively accepting clinical rotations.
- Students search for preceptors by specialty, population focus, location, and program requirements — then request a match with one click.
- Preceptors create a free profile, set their availability and preferences, and receive student requests that fit their practice.
- Schools define clinical placement requirements (credential, population focus, care model, hours) and see their students' match status in real time.
How It Works
Our matching engine scores every student-preceptor pair on credential compatibility, specialty alignment, population focus, geographic proximity, schedule overlap, and program-specific requirements. Students see a ranked list of available preceptors with match percentages and fit grades — no more guessing.
When a student requests a preceptor, a flat $10 match fee is charged. Preceptor accounts are always free. Preceptors who want to keep their personal contact info private can activate Privacy Messaging ($50 one-time) for a masked email alias and in-platform inbox.
Our Data
We maintain a directory of over 430,000 licensed nurse practitioners, CRNAs, CNMs, and clinical nurse specialists across all 50 states, sourced from the CMS NPI Registry and verified against state licensing boards. When a preceptor signs up, we match them against this directory and pre-fill their profile from public license data — so they don't have to retype everything.
What We Are Not
- Not a placement agency. We don't charge thousands of dollars to broker clinical placements. Students pay a flat $10 per match — that's it.
- Not a clinical provider. We don't supervise, employ, or credential preceptors. The clinical relationship is between the student, the preceptor, and the student's academic program.
- Not a marketing platform for schools. We don't sell student data, charge schools for access, or prioritize paying institutions over others.
- Not a substitute for your program. We supplement — not replace — your school's existing placement support. Your program's requirements drive the matching engine.
- Not an endorsement of any preceptor. Profiles are built from public license data and self-reported information. Students and schools are responsible for independently verifying credentials before beginning any clinical rotation.
