Emergency Mode is the safety net that kicks in when a confirmed placement falls through. We search our emergency preceptor pool and get you a qualified replacement on short notice.
"My preceptor emailed me three days before my rotation started and said she couldn't do it anymore. I had no backup plan."
— NP student, Spring 2025You did everything right. You found your preceptor months ago. The paperwork went through. Your clinical site was confirmed. Then, days before your rotation, something changed. Your preceptor had a family emergency. The clinic closed temporarily. They stopped responding to emails.
Now you're staring at a delayed graduation, a wasted semester of tuition, and a scramble to find someone new. The current system has no safety net for this. Schools can't help on that timeline. Placement services take weeks. You're on your own.
Missing one rotation can push your entire timeline back a semester. That's months of lost income and additional tuition.
You already paid for this semester. If you can't complete your clinical hours, that money doesn't come back.
You're right back where you started, except now you have days instead of months. The odds are worse and the stakes are higher.
Five steps from crisis to covered.
Something unexpected happens. Your preceptor cancels, becomes unresponsive, or the clinical site closes. The placement you were counting on is gone.
Log into your student dashboard and file an emergency request. You'll select the reason from a list and provide any relevant details so our team knows what happened.
We verify you have an existing match on the platform and confirm the situation qualifies. This isn't automated. A real person reviews every emergency request.
Preceptors who have opted into the emergency pool are contacted based on your clinical requirements, location, and timeline. These are providers who have specifically said they're available for short-notice placements.
If a qualified preceptor is available, we connect you. Your rotation stays on track. No delayed graduation, no wasted semester.
Emergency Mode only activates when something goes wrong with a placement you already had. If you haven't matched with anyone yet, start with Find a Preceptor.
Joining the emergency pool is voluntary. You set the terms. We only reach out when a student genuinely needs help. Learn more about precepting.
We review every request individually. The goal is to protect students who did the right thing and got hit with bad luck, not to bail out poor planning.
You can't predict when a placement will fall through. But you can be ready. Sign up now so Emergency Mode is there if you ever need it.
