People hear "$10 per match" and assume there's a catch. There isn't. We just don't think you should have to drain your savings to get a clinical placement.
If you've looked at placement services, you already know the going rate. Somewhere between $2,000 and $7,000, depending on your specialty, your location, and how desperate you are. And make no mistake, they know exactly how desperate you are. The entire business model depends on it.
We wrote about this problem before. Placement services aren't evil by nature. But charging students thousands of dollars for an introduction to a preceptor who's volunteering their time? That math doesn't sit right with us. It never has.
So How Does $10 Work?
We're a technology platform, not a staffing agency. We don't have "placement coordinators" cold-calling clinics and negotiating on your behalf. Instead, we built a matching engine that does the heavy lifting automatically. Preceptors list their credentials, availability, and location. Your school's program requirements are already in the system. When you request a match, the engine scores preceptors against what your program actually needs.
That's software doing what software is good at. It doesn't need a $5,000 fee to run.
The $10 covers the cost of maintaining the platform, verifying credentials, and keeping the lights on. It's not a loss leader. It's not a promotional price that goes up after you're hooked. It's what this actually costs when you strip away the middlemen and let technology handle the matching instead of paying humans to make phone calls all day.
Why Not Free?
We thought about it. But free creates problems. When something is free, there's no friction, and no friction means people submit requests they're not serious about. It wastes preceptors' time, and preceptors already give enough of their time for free. A small fee ensures that every match request represents a student who is genuinely ready for clinical hours.
It also means we don't have to sell your data, run ads, or upsell you into a "premium tier" that unlocks the features you actually need. There's no bronze plan and gold plan. There's no annual subscription. Ten dollars. That's the whole deal.
We also considered the alternative: if we're free, we need another revenue source. That usually means selling user data, running display ads, or charging preceptors instead. None of those options aligned with what we're trying to build. We'd rather charge a fair, transparent price to the person who benefits from the match.
Why We Won't Raise It
We've been asked if the price will go up once we gain traction. The answer is no. Our mission is to fix a broken system, not become another part of it. Students are already paying an absurd amount just to enter this profession. Tuition, licensing fees, exam fees, background checks, certification renewals. Adding another financial barrier would make us no different from the companies we built this to replace.
Scale actually helps us here. As more preceptors and students join the platform, the per-match cost of running the system goes down, not up. More users don't mean more phone calls or more coordinators. They mean more data points for the matching engine, which makes the results better for everyone.
Ten dollars. One match. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, no "convenience charges." You pay when you're ready, and you get results. That's how this should work.
If you're tired of being price-gouged for something your school should have handled in the first place, create your student account and see what $10 actually gets you.
